Leading the way in Sustainability in UK Sports Clubs

Rochester, Kent – 22 November, 2013. Sherwood Cricket Club is proud to be featured in an ECB video supporting the Green Grants awards.

“We are pleased to be featured in the ECB video and supporting their promotion of best practices in sustainability”, said Tony Rossiter, Chairman, Sherwood CC. "Sherwood are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and the award from ECB of a grant for our LED lighting helps us achieve these goals".

ECB, in consultation with Kent Cricket Board awarded Sherwood a grant for the replacement of the lighting system throughout the club with the latest LED lighting technology. The new lighting was supplied by Simply-LED.co.uk and TLC in Rochester. Installation was undertaken by Shane Bunn, a club member and qualified electrician at no cost to the club. The lighting system will reduce the running costs by around 83%. Since installing the new lighting system, many members have noticed a significant difference in the ambiance and appearance at the club.

The lighting system uses the latest LED bulb technology - NextGen II from Simply-LED.co.uk and a range of LED strip lighting throughout the clubhouse.

"The grant from ECB has enabled us to further enhance the clubhouse and drive significant savings in ongoing running costs", said Tony Rossiter. "The video shows some of the aspects of our ongoing improvements and supports our aims to be a forward thinking, environmentally conscious sports club. We would liek to thank both the ECB and Kent Cricket Board for their continued support of Sherwood Cricket Club".
