Sherwood have been named as a finalist in the 2013 Kent Excellence in Business Awards (KEiBA) under the category "Commitment to the Environment".
The club has been recognised for its hard work in developing an environmental and sustainability strategy including solarpv, energy management and now LED efficient lighting throughout the clubhouse. All of these activities have been funded by grants and donations from club members and associated governing bodies of Sport.
The Galal Dinner and Awards Presentation takes place on 27th June at the Kent Event Centre, Kent Showground, Detling.
Sherwood have been accredited with the STEM Silver Level 2 by the South East Business Carbon Hub and Kent County Council. This is the second step towards BS8555 and ISO 14001 accreditation. We have a published Environmental Policy which forms the basis of our continued commitment to reduce the impact of our activities on the local environment.
The club has a published facilities development plan to further improve our carbon footprint using technologies such as rainwater harvesting and an irrigation system. Recently, Sherwood was awarded a grant from the England & Wales Cricket Board Small Grants scheme to replace the current lighting with energy efficient LED lighting.
